The Soak

What they say

Located some 3½ miles from the City Centre and 400 yards from the University campus you will find The S'oak. This is a modern, contemporary pub which is open plan and has screens to watch the sport from any position. There is a sophisticated sound system whereby the volume can be altered according to the time of day, area of the pub, etc. This creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout. During the term we are mainly student led whereas university holidays are somewhat quieter! Lunchtime food is very popular with students and people from nearby businesses. Things liven up at night when out entertainment starts. Come along soon to S'oak and see what you have been missing!

What we think:
The Soak is a modern bar with everything a student could want, namely beer and a pool table. During the day it is a fairly quiet place, although there are usually plenty of people eating from the well priced menu. A normal selection of drinks are sold and are equally well priced. Although having a modern look, a freindly easy going atmosphere is still maintained and anyone could feel at home here. It is well organised and there are plenty of places to sit and talk. Later, it fills up with students and is a nice pub to have a pub night out in. Music is varied and keeps it interesting. Probably one of the nicer pubs in Selly Oak.

I really like this pub. Staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable- cheaper than the GB down the road.Shows all the sport on widescreens- can't wait for the world cup.

Awful awful place. Over priced, full of awful people with horrible staff. No smoking area at all, and the toilets, although new, are poorly maintained. You're much better to go the Goose for cheaper drinks and a better atmosphere.

Was a great pub when first opened, but its now the haunt of the local chavs, cheaper still than the G.B, which is a bonus

A pub which in its heyday offered some great offers on drinks which made this a great place to spend an evening in. Unfortunately these offers have all been stopped now and high prices have been introduced so you will need to bring your credit card with you to have a good time here now. Still offers the same trendy, funky atmosphere as always but i dont like the new orange colour scheme on the outside. This pub is now more suitable for having a drink or two in before going to a club.
